What began as a working farm in Garrett County has grown into something bigger: a way to connect families, visitors, and our community directly to high-quality, locally raised food. We saw a gap - people coming to Deep Creek Lake want fresh, local products, but don’t always have the time or access to find them. So we built a solution.

Your Local Farmer was founded by Burke Holvey Friend, a local entrepreneur with deep roots in Garrett County and a lifelong connection to agriculture.
With experience in both farming and business, Burke saw firsthand the disconnect between local producers and the people who want their products - especially in a destination market like Deep Creek Lake. Visitors and homeowners alike were looking for convenience without sacrificing quality, and local farmers were looking for better ways to reach those customers.
By combining her background in livestock, farming, and sales, Burke built Your Local Farmer to bridge that gap - creating a service that supports local agriculture while delivering a personal experience to every customer.
For Burke, this isn’t just a business, it’s about strengthening the local economy, supporting fellow farmers, and making sure great local food is conveniently available.
